Roman pt. 2 … Yesterday was Roman’s Birthday, and I already “sketchbooked” him earlier this week, but I felt that I could’ve done better job on it, especially since it was made at like 3AM when I was deathly tired and in a zombie-like state.
Here is my attempt at one upping my other post. Also, since Roman changed his facebook profile pic for the first time in years with my previous illustration (woot!), I wanted to see if I could get him to change it again… Apparently he has only had 3 facebook profile pics ever over the course of like 6 years.
I have also created a time-lapse animation of me crafting up his mug…
Today’s post, Ali Final. I found some time today to finish up and tweak the illustration I started yesterday of my good friend Ali. I have actually drawn portraits of Ali several times during the course of my blog, but I feel this is the best representation I have made to date. Especially since he is holding the highly coveted “Shot in the Dark” hot chocolate / espresso drink from Java Wallys here at RIT. Check out Ali’s work at http://www.alialithinks.com , and his dribbble at: http://www.dribbble.com/alialithinks .
Ali is an amazing designer… We started http://www.dwaiter.com together ( Along w/ Therese Hannigan *Shout out! ), and it’s been sad that since I left, we don’t get to hang out as much. We still catch up now and then with some coffee, and the occasional lunch.
Ali, My Brother from another Mother! This is a work in progress… More to come… I need sleep for I am quite incoherent at this point. I have a class in the morning but was compelled to have a post for tonight. Hope you all have a good evening.
Today’s Illustration, Roman. Roman is a fellow New Media Gangsta. He makes the best crepes from scratch, dances like a fiend, and is one of the coolest muthafu*#Az I know! … Hailing from the mighty Ukraine, this kid will dazzle you with his footwork. His birthday is coming up this week, so I gotta show him some sketchbooked love!
Marcel (3/7/2010) Another graduate of RIT New Media, Marcel is a brilliant developer with a keen eye for design. Check out his work at http://www.marcelray.com .
This was a special Sunday twitter photo request. I will follow up with the rest this week. Posts might come in kind of late and spaced out, I am teaching two classes at RIT this semester, starting on 3/08. But there will be a post for every day… even though it may be a day or two late.
Ibe (2/25/2010) I knew Ibe from way back on the cheese bus days of City Honors. It so happened he also attened RIT. I know him nowadays through facebook where he has to be one of my most entertaining contacts. In the photo I used for reference for this piece, he was getting down with some lil kid in complete awe… I loved the pose, so I had to come through and represent with it. Figured also that I would do it justice and pull some curves versus my sketchy technique.
I am really happy with the way this one came out for the amount of time I put into it.. maybe I should be doing more vector pull based illustrations.
Rich (2/24/2010). Rich is a fellow New Media Designer, and Graduate of RIT. We chat online, and discuss all things tech, design and Puerto Rican food over the internets. He has been very supportive of my blog and my efforts of digital sketching peoples and whatnot, so I’d thought how best to show my appreciation than to immortalize his mug on my blog. You can check out his work at http://www.imperez.com/
Matt (2/16/2010). Matt was actually one of my students in the fall quarter of 2009 at RIT. He is in the New Media Program, he plays guitar, and is quite the photographer. You can see his work at http://mattolpinski.com/. He should actually be listed as part of my request series from a week or two back… I realized I forgot to include him in… so this is to make up for that.
