Self Portrait Saturday! (1/16/10) ok so I made it up… but anyways, I decided for today to do a self portrait. No reason in particular… Just felt it had to be done.

Anywhoo, my Name is Miguel Cardona. I work at Dumbwaiter Design. I am an Interactive Art Director. I make sexy on-screen designs, as well as do a bit of Flash Development, and motion graphics on occasion.  I live on the West Side in Buffalo, NY (The weather is miserable as shit right now). And I spend wayyyy too much time in front of a computer with a wacom tablet in front of me, as you all can see, evidenced by this very blog .

I enjoy looking at beautiful things, drawing in sketchbooks, listening to music, and going running ad biking. Moet. (1/14/2010) Originally, for my subjects this week, I was sketching people who facebook recommended that I reconnect with.  However, today I didn’t get any recommendations :/. I thought it was weird. So instead, since Moet was kind enough to tell me recently that I should “take a nap”, and that I “suffer from ADHD”… I figured that she was trying to tell me that she secretly wanted me to flaunt her illustrated mug on my blog.

Moet and I go way back to freshman year at RIT. She lived one floor above me, and was a fellow New Media Designer-in-training. I think one of the first people I met in the Design major who had a lot of classes with me. Anywhoo, we helped each other out on projects, and all was good.

We also worked together for a brief stint at Buck & Pulleyn… Where she taught me the fab art of frequent coffee & smoke breaks (tho I didn’t smoke). We still kinda keep up once in a while online, mostly just comments here and there on walls, and twitters. But she has always been keen to listen to my problems, and try and instill more of her free spirited mantra onto me. An amazing graphic designer and artist… I was very highly jealous of her analog skills whilst in school.

Happy Birthday Roushey! My student at RIT for two freshman classes 5 years ago, formally my intern & sheep mascot. Roushey is an amazing chap.  A genius flash developer, animator, illustrator, programmer… He also has a sense of humor that is on a bit of the dark side and unexpected at times. He currently works at firstborn.

His antics are featured in SOBE’s current website & youtube spots … and he is HILARIOUS.

Cuban Dave! Former roommate, and another New Media Design Rockstar… This kid is one salsa-dancing machine extravaganza. We had a lot a good times back in our Rochester days for sure. Currently rockin’ out in Boston and doing his thing as only he can…
