Joey P. Trying to keep up the momentum from my post yesterday… Here is Today’s Illustration, Joanna… I think maybe I might do a few more high school people portrait posts, since it’s been 10 years since graduating high school :)

Randi (2/21/2010). I know Randi from high school. We had good times in the back of the art room together playing music, and making art. She made the most amazing sculpt of her self… it was just, like Woah! Randi is a very outgoing free spirited individual who’s enthusiasm and energy has always astounded me. What this illustration does now show, is the two pine cones Randi is holding up to her chest in a very amusing fashion…

Deneb (2/20/2010). I went to high school with Deneb. We had a thing for ditchin class and getting some Louie’s Grilled Chicken Sandwiches. We would hang out in the art room, and bust out with weird jokes. He was always pretty chill, and we would have some good conversations on life, philosophy and what not. I still remember the time we were campin with school, and he busts out singing “War, what is it good for…” and stompin on someone’s sleeping bag, LMAO…. you had to be there to get the subtleties of the joke I guess. Deneb was always a very deep individual with an affinity for the finer things in life…. oh and he likes Batman… really likes Batman.

Currently Working on a tutorial for a Design Instruct... This may be the piece I use for an example. The Source Photo for this sketch, was taken by Lillian Bertram, http://www.lillianbertramphotography.com/
Matt (2/6/2010) I knew Matt from Highschool.  I run into him occasionally about town. Last I heard, he was reffing some roller derby competitions… for the Queen City Rollers. A very outgoing, kind and spiritual individual, I have never seen Matt without a smile proudly displayed and stretching across the the frame of his face.

Caitlin (2/3/2010). I went to high school with Caitlin. A radiant and vibrant child of Buffalo, I see Caitlin out and about on Elmwood, and the West Side. We just happen to pass by each other briefly all the time, but the clamorous exchanges of “YO! CAITLIN” & “YO! MIGUEL” along with any subsequent ramblings are always very fun and exciting.  We must go for coffee and actually have a conversation one of these days for sure!
This is (4/7) of my open request week, where I made an invitation for people on my facebook to request to be sketchbooked.

Ankur (1/31/2010) I’ve known Ankur since the 6th grade. When I got my first computer, it was Ankur who got me into HTML, and web authoring. We dueled with tripod hosted web pages, lol. In highschool, he threw some of the best house parties for sure. Most recently, I designed a crest for his soccer team, he still hasn’t given me my sample tshirt, ahem. ;)

Dennison (1/25/2010). It amazes me sometimes the talent & creativity of the individuals I attended highschool with. Dennison is a fashion photographer, he currently maintains studios in Milan and Prague. His work is absolutely brilliant, full of depth, and evocative. Some of his clients include: Elle, Marie Claire, InStyle, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Opera Software, Machja, and many more.

Lillian and I went to high school together. A free spirit, a creative mind, and a great person. Professionally, she’s an amazing photographer / writer / poet … We used to poke each other a lot on facebook :D.

It’s 2010 WOOT! Baby New Year What Up!?!? …
Social Networking now allows you to see others’ lives as they grow. And with age, comes babies! I realize I’m at the point in life where many of the people I knew from way back are propagating and setting the pace for another generation.
So as we are upon a new decade, and in realizing this year marks my 10 year high school reunion, I decided to draw a fellow ( at one point ) CHS’er. One who has a photo of his child gracing his facebook profile. So today I say cheers to Mike V., for living life and sharing photos of your adorable spawn for all to see! Big Up!

Kathleen. Last post of this Year! Woot! 2010!…So last night I went to the bar Frizzy’s meeting up with some friends from high school on Allen street. Lo and behold, I ran into a another friend from highschool who was bar tending there. Kathleen is a proud mother and grad student at Buffalo State College pursuing a career in higher ed. Incidentally, she was also my prom date for Junior prom.
Because she was so nice as to offer up some conversation, kind words about my new blog, and a free beer, I decided to sketch her for today’s post. Being New Year’s Eve and all, I chose a profile pic of hers that suits the spirit. I think she is dressed as princess Daisy (Her boyfriend was dressed as Mario).
If you are in the Buffalo area, be sure to stop by Frizzy’s on Allen… great bar, great service, chill atmosphere… and they have an awesome photo booth!

This is Dominic, I guess you can say I knew him from high school.  He is one of those facebook friends you’re connected to for no other reason than he had a familiar name or something. I don’t think I’ve ever had a conversation with him, but he was like a staple icon-y type person from the CHS days. His current profile photo is just hilarious!
