Raymour (3/16/2010). Though we are both living in Buffalo, NY, I only know Raymour through twitter, we share some mutual contacts, and some RTs. He is a photographer slash designer, and you can check out his work on http://rpnphoto.com and follow him on twitter at @raymour (Definitely worth a follow). He does some really awesome wedding photography!
I have fallen off on doing my daily illustrations for the past week, but I’ll catch up. I am seriously busy with teaching and having to head up to Rochester and whatnot, but Ill will start backdating some pieces to get back in the flow. Actually, in knowing that more of my students are following me now on tumblr, I feel like I have to.
I made these little guys … when I should’ve been doing the dishes today… you can see I was inspired from the posters and work from Hero Design …
Deneb (2/20/2010). I went to high school with Deneb. We had a thing for ditchin class and getting some Louie’s Grilled Chicken Sandwiches. We would hang out in the art room, and bust out with weird jokes. He was always pretty chill, and we would have some good conversations on life, philosophy and what not. I still remember the time we were campin with school, and he busts out singing “War, what is it good for…” and stompin on someone’s sleeping bag, LMAO…. you had to be there to get the subtleties of the joke I guess. Deneb was always a very deep individual with an affinity for the finer things in life…. oh and he likes Batman… really likes Batman.
Caitlin (2/3/2010). I went to high school with Caitlin. A radiant and vibrant child of Buffalo, I see Caitlin out and about on Elmwood, and the West Side. We just happen to pass by each other briefly all the time, but the clamorous exchanges of “YO! CAITLIN” & “YO! MIGUEL” along with any subsequent ramblings are always very fun and exciting. We must go for coffee and actually have a conversation one of these days for sure!
This is (4/7) of my open request week, where I made an invitation for people on my facebook to request to be sketchbooked.
Lillian and I went to high school together. A free spirit, a creative mind, and a great person. Professionally, she’s an amazing photographer / writer / poet … We used to poke each other a lot on facebook :D.
Check out her photography here: http://www.lillianbertramphotography.com
My Cousin Qui, and his current facebook status. Last year I was reunited with my cousin after close to 15 years of zero contact. We were brought together through facebook, and a mutual love for Amy’s Place food … My brother from another mother, Qui is currently livin it up in Philly and working at the LBGTQ bookstore on 12th and Pine called Giovanni’s Room. A ball of energy this kid… Qui serves as a great tour guide to all things Philly, and is currently trying to get me to relocate to the land of cheesesteaks, and Ben Franklin.
It’s 2010 WOOT! Baby New Year What Up!?!? …
Social Networking now allows you to see others’ lives as they grow. And with age, comes babies! I realize I’m at the point in life where many of the people I knew from way back are propagating and setting the pace for another generation.
So as we are upon a new decade, and in realizing this year marks my 10 year high school reunion, I decided to draw a fellow ( at one point ) CHS’er. One who has a photo of his child gracing his facebook profile. So today I say cheers to Mike V., for living life and sharing photos of your adorable spawn for all to see! Big Up!
Kathleen. Last post of this Year! Woot! 2010!…So last night I went to the bar Frizzy’s meeting up with some friends from high school on Allen street. Lo and behold, I ran into a another friend from highschool who was bar tending there. Kathleen is a proud mother and grad student at Buffalo State College pursuing a career in higher ed. Incidentally, she was also my prom date for Junior prom.
Because she was so nice as to offer up some conversation, kind words about my new blog, and a free beer, I decided to sketch her for today’s post. Being New Year’s Eve and all, I chose a profile pic of hers that suits the spirit. I think she is dressed as princess Daisy (Her boyfriend was dressed as Mario).
If you are in the Buffalo area, be sure to stop by Frizzy’s on Allen… great bar, great service, chill atmosphere… and they have an awesome photo booth!
Happy New Years! - Miggi
Laura. My favorite Trini-based blogger / runner / fashionista. We did the Freezer 5K run in Buffalo a few days before Christmas in 19 Degree (F) weather. It was an awesome time. Laura does everything from making clothes and delicious veggie meals, to dancing wildly to the sounds of Major Lazer. I do not know why she is screaming at the sight of this pineapple… But it makes for a great drawing :)
You can read her all about her life, rants, recipes, & insights to living in Trinidad at her blog: http://laurageorgina.wordpress.com/
This is Dominic, I guess you can say I knew him from high school. He is one of those facebook friends you’re connected to for no other reason than he had a familiar name or something. I don’t think I’ve ever had a conversation with him, but he was like a staple icon-y type person from the CHS days. His current profile photo is just hilarious!
Eli & Andy.
Went to highschool with Eli… Always run into him in the most unexpected of places.
Andy is the father of my good friend Dave, from RIT. Andy is retired now and has an amazing house… He can build fantastic furnishings, and has an uncanny sense for interior design.
